Get to know Dr. SHAUNE R. Shelby
Reverend Dr. Shaune R. Shelby is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. At the age of 11 he received Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church by the late Dr. Stacy R. Shields, Pastor. Reverend Shelby has been actively involved in ministry for more than 20 years. He received his Certificate of License on July, 28, 1996, and his Certificate of Ordination on April, 8th, 2000. Since his calling he has served in the following areas; Youth Minister at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Il- linois, Nursery, Children and Youth Pastor/Director at Bible-Based Fellowship Church in Tampa, Florida, and Youth Pastor at Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. A major highlight on his spiritual journey was the opportunity to join a mission trip to Burkina Faso, Africa where he taught and preached at the Bible-Based Academy. Upon arrival in Ghana as he exited the plane with out-stretched hands he said “I am home.” In addition to his trip to Africa, Reverend Shelby has also traveled abroad to visit the Holy land of Israel with Pastor Geoffrey Guns; a journey he counts as the most impactful thing he has done for his spiritual growth. It is because of these special experiences that he is strongly convicted that as believers our impact should be both local and global.
After a 10 year ministry journey brought about by several corporate relocations, Reverend Shelby and his family returned to Indianapolis where he became a member of Little Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and where he later returned to serve an associate minister at his home church, Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where Dr. LeRoy. Wadlington is the Pastor. While there, Reverend Shelby served as Ministry Lead for the Scholarship committee. He also began volunteering and continues to volunteer and lead a men’s study class for the Indiana Department of Correction, Indianapolis Re-Entry Educational Facility.
On September 21, 2013, Reverend Shelby accepted the call to become Pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana making him the 3rd Pastor since the church was founded November 6, 1960 by Rev. J. Earl King.
By profession Dr. Shelby is the Area Sales Manager for Shell Lubricants, Houston, Texas. He did his undergraduate study at Indiana State University and completed his Master of Business Administration, Summa Cum Laude from Florida Metropolitan University.
Dr. Shaune R. Shelby is married to Lisha A. (Markey) Shelby, whom he met at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Together, they have 3 sons, Shaune II, amd twins Reid and Rylan.
Throughout his ministerial journey he has always remembered the wise counsel of the late Dr. Stacy R. Shields his father in the ministry who once said, “Be yourself because your gift will make room for you”. Reverend Shelby has remained a humble servant caring for the young and the old and challenging his peers to do more and give more to ministry. Having been in ministries across these United States those experiences in urban ministry have equipped him with the tools, experiences and desire to lead Ebenezer upward and onward in Christ.
